24.5.11

I decided to go out for a walk with Eileen tonight, to survey the damage caused by the crazy wind of yesterday. There wasn't much damage round my way, but round Eileen's there alot of damage to the trees, huge branches have snapped and a couple of great big trees have fallen.
This was on a path going through the park. There were just snapped branches everywhere.
And we also found a tree completely blocking our path. I took about 50 photos of all different trees, but I thought that was slightly excessive for my blog so just put up these ones. The council is going to have a fair job getting all the broken trees made safe, but they wont run out of wood chips for a while....

So it has been a tad windy today. By a tad windy I mean winds up to 100mph in certain parts of Scotland. As a result there have been lots of trees down and debris flying about and therefore every single train was cancelled from Queen Street station.
There were no replacement buses and taxi queues were a million miles long. In the end mum had to come rescue me. It took over 2 hours to do the round trip, and it should have taken half of that. I got home close to 8pm. On the upside I got a free cup of tea at the train station.

So earlier in the week the newspaper said we would be getting all sorts of weather this weekend, from warm sunshine to hailstones. Well today it started off dull but pleasant, was sunny and warm by the afternoon and then by later afternoon the heavens opened!
Its very hard to take a picture of rain, what with it being fast moving and see through, but believe me at this point it was bouncing. There was actually water seeping under the front door it was so heavy. Atleast Dads new plants got a good watering.
