31.5.11

Tonight I had the full intention of going to the gym. I was going to kick some gym butt and leave feeling really good about myself. However throughout the afternoon I developed a wee pain in my ear which progressed to a rather painful shooting pain that occasionally goes right into my brain. I decided that perhaps leaping about on the gym equipment wasn't the best idea so instead I came home and spent the evening feeling sorry for myself and playing Zombie Lane on facebook.

So thats May finished. Completed with some computer generated undead and brain pain. Lovely.

30.5.11

Today I did very very little. I watched a couple of films (Carriers and Alive), lounged alot, ate some food and had a nap. The only thing that took any energy was cleaning my fishtank for my 4 tiny wee fish. Even then it only took me about 20 minutes....

29.5.11

Today I bought a bed. You may think that's boring, however it is my most exciting purchase since me and dad bought The Beast.
It's getting delivered 2 weeks on Wednesday so I am now in the process of tidying and sorting my room. I suspect I am going to be brutal and bin a heck of alot of stuff.

28.5.11

Dad has been in Japan for around about the past 3 and a half weeks.
I asked him to bring me back some Japanese sweeties or crisps. Well the ever efficient Japanese have combined the two. I have not yet brought myself to try one but I am intrigued. They are either going to be amazing or disgusting.

27.5.11

Met Sarah for lunch today. We had both been wanting to go to a new place that's opened in town. I walk past it everyday on my way home from work and Sarahs bus drives past it every morning on her way to work. They have yummy cakes in the window and I think thats really the only thing that got our attention.
Nom cake!! I had some Victoria sponge and Sarah had the worlds biggest meringue. It was a very nice lunch indeed.

26.5.11

Me and Eileen went to the gym tonight. Its a rather uninspiring building. I suppose probably because it's a council run sports centre. Its fairly swish inside though.
I didn't work very hard but Eileen did. She told me not to let her work that hard again. I think she may have been slightly worn out afterwards.....

25.5.11

Whats this? Impromtu outdoor gig? Someone giving away free sausage rolls? Sadly not. We had a fire drill in work. It was chilly, and damp.
However I did pick a wee flower for my desk while we were out. Awww, isn't it pretty?

24.5.11

I decided to go out for a walk with Eileen tonight, to survey the damage caused by the crazy wind of yesterday. There wasn't much damage round my way, but round Eileen's there alot of damage to the trees, huge branches have snapped and a couple of great big trees have fallen.
This was on a path going through the park. There were just snapped branches everywhere.
And we also found a tree completely blocking our path. I took about 50 photos of all different trees, but I thought that was slightly excessive for my blog so just put up these ones. The council is going to have a fair job getting all the broken trees made safe, but they wont run out of wood chips for a while....

23.5.11

So it has been a tad windy today. By a tad windy I mean winds up to 100mph in certain parts of Scotland. As a result there have been lots of trees down and debris flying about and therefore every single train was cancelled from Queen Street station.
There were no replacement buses and taxi queues were a million miles long. In the end mum had to come rescue me. It took over 2 hours to do the round trip, and it should have taken half of that. I got home close to 8pm. On the upside I got a free cup of tea at the train station.

22.5.11

Today we Raced for Life!! The day started off freezing, wet and miserable. None of us were overly thrilled at the prospect of trudging 5 kilometres in the cold and wet but thankfully through the race the weather brightened up. Kirsty finished first out of us with an impressive 53 minutes, me and Eileen finished together at 54 minutes (knocking 9 minutes of my time last year and 15 off Eileens) and Sarah and Mum finished together at 1 hour 6 minutes. It was Mums first Race for Life after she kicked cancers butt last year. In the end it was a great day. As soon as I got home I slunked into a hot Radox bath and crawled into my bed for a couple of hours. Go Team Goldie Girls!!!

HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY ANDREW!!!
A lovely birthday party (with an excellent buffet!) was had by all and I think Andrew was suitably spoiled. He even liked the dressing gown and slippers I bought him!

Also, me and Eileen took a jaunt to Tesco this evening and found this little guy:

The happiest deformed tomato ever!! We found him with the face drawn on and he just looked like he was dying to have his picture taken.

20.5.11

As it is Andrews birthday tomorrow, he is having a sleep over tonight. To save Elise the trouble of having to give many big boys into trouble through the night, she came to stay over night with me and Mum. I must say she was a little sweet heart.
She hasn't ever been one to give lots of kisses or cuddles or really want to sit up with you or anything. These past few weeks she has really come round and I had lots of cuddles and general tomfoolery. It was lovely to have her on her own too. She is a right little madam at times but hilarious with it.

19.5.11

Went a little late night shopping tonight as it's Andrews birthday on Saturday and before I headed homeward I stopped off at Millie's cookies.
I only wanted 4 cookies (2 for me and 2 for Mum) but somehow the girl behind the counter managed to convince me to get another 2 for 'only £1 more' (!?). They were worth it, though. Millie's cookies are gooooood.

18.5.11

Tonight I spent a while ironing transfers onto tee shirts for the 5k on Sunday. Its called The Race For Life and its done through Cancer Research. I did it last year with Eileen, Sarah and my Aunt Isobel.
This year it will be me, Mum, Eileen, Sarah, Isobel, my sister in law Kirsty, Mum and Isobels cousin Valerie and Isobels step daughter Arlene. We will be The Goldie Girls as Mum and Isobels mum and Valeries mum had Goldie as their maiden name and in a round about sort of way we are all Goldies. Plus its a play on words from the old TV show The Golden Girls.

17.5.11

Spotted Battle Royale on the TV tonight so decided to give it a gander. I have seen it a few times (the first time under protest - Sarah had wanted to see it so we rented it from the video shop. I grumped and groaned about subtitles but ended up really enjoying it. Sarah fell asleep part way through).
For anyone who hasn't seen it or heard of it, it's a Japanese film. The basic story line is that teenagers have got too big for their boots and the adults have passed a law that makes it acceptable for them to drug the kids, put them on an island where they have to battle to the death until only one teenager survives. It really is worth a watch if only for the cringy script and questionable 'special effects'.

16.5.11

Tonight me and mum went out for a walk. We are doing a 5k on Sunday and haven't done any training together ( I have been gymming it with Eileen, while mum has been going out for walks during the day). It was fairly enjoyable. The scenery is rather pretty round here....

15.5.11

Today me and Eileen went for a swim and decided to treat ourselves to a wee shot of the sauna afterwards. We paid for it to be added onto our memberships when we joined the gym and have never used it. I must say I quite enjoyed and, and felt very very relaxed afterwards.

NB - My camera is still broken so I have had to resort to nabbing pictures from Google. The sauna at the council gym isn't as nice or as big as that one. Still good though :)

14.5.11

Tonight was Eurovision night. We were represented by a boyband that split up 6 years ago, reformed 2 years ago and haven't done much since. However the last few years have been awful for the UK. Our entries have been terrible (anyone remember Gemini?) and last year we managed to scrape away with 10 points. Tonight we did pretty well. We ended up with 100 points and stayed on the left hand side of the board. Well done Blue!

13.5.11

I had strawberries and cream for pudding tonight. It's a healthy pudding, I think. Only because it contains fruit. Similar to the banana cake I made last weekend. Its completely acceptable to eat lots of fruity puddings, and I will keep telling myself that!

My camera is still defunct so this picture was brought to you due to a collaboration with my brother in law, Stewart. I took the picture with my phone, but its rubbish and I cant upload to the internet from it. So I sent it to Stewart, who put on it on Facebook where I took it from and delivered it to you lovely people. There's nothing you can't do with family to help!

12.5.11

My camera is temporarily defunct. I am hoping it just needs batteries, though I changed them recently. Normal service will resume tomorrow.

11.5.11

This morning tragedy struck! I forgot to pick up my MP3 player from its charger. That meant I had no tunes for driving to the station. No tunes means I am not a happy bunny.
It's cool though, I managed to get a really annoying song stuck in my head all day (which currently escapes me) so by the time I was heading home I was so sick of it circling my head that I was quite happy to drive home in silence.

10.5.11

Me and Eileen went to the gym and worked out buttocks off.

Then I came home and put my buttocks back on with a sausage supper. Makes sense, right?

9.5.11

Ended up with a migraine last night and had an early night. As a result I had to get up very early to get my clothes in the dryer and showered for work. I finally hit the land of the living at 6.35am.
Unfortunately my migraine made a return on my drive to the train station and I had to just turn round and come home again. Luckily that meant I got to go back to bed, unluckily it felt like a goblin was trying to smash its way out of my skull.

8.5.11

Today I made cake. I had a bundle of over ripe bananas sitting looking sorry for themselves so I made a bunch of banana cakes. I delievered on to Graeme and his family and one to Eileen and hers. Sarah would have got one f she didn't live over an hour away. Perhaps I'll take one next time I am visitying.

Apologies for any typos but I have migrain aura starting and cant actually see what I am typing. I'll fix it tomorrow

7.5.11

So earlier in the week the newspaper said we would be getting all sorts of weather this weekend, from warm sunshine to hailstones. Well today it started off dull but pleasant, was sunny and warm by the afternoon and then by later afternoon the heavens opened!
Its very hard to take a picture of rain, what with it being fast moving and see through, but believe me at this point it was bouncing. There was actually water seeping under the front door it was so heavy. Atleast Dads new plants got a good watering.

6.5.11

This picture is of a print out of an email that went back and forth between me and my younger sister Sarah today. It started with her sending an email saying 'TGIF!' - Thank goodness its Friday. I responded with 'TCIF!' - Thank Crunchie its Friday. After that point it descended into madness. The general gist of it all was one of us would send the first letter of each word in a sentence/song lyric/film quote and we would substitute one word for Friday. The other then had to guess what all the letters stood for. Most notable ones are:
SOOBATTTK,PMACOF - it stood for 'Stumble out of bed and tumble to the kitchen, pour myself a cup of Friday! Sarah's guess was 'Somewhere on our big plane the topical treatment kills, People may accumulate coins on Friday'
TEOTF - it stood for 'Total Eclipse of the Friday'. I guessed 'Triceritops eats only tragic Friday.'

It certainly brightened up my Friday.

Today I voted! I still don't fully understand voting and politics, but I did it anyway.

Although this is not a photograph ( I felt I had to explain that as the life like resemblance is uncanny) this is a pictoral representation of my mood today.

Can you tell I did Standard Grade art? I am available for commissions.

3.5.11

Today was my first day back at work after a glorious 11 days off. As is always the way, it was a horrible day.
Its ok though because I cheered myself up with a caramel cup and custard. Cake always makes me happy, it could be why I have such a podgy tummy but I really don't care.

Monday, 2 May 2011

2.5.11

Today I have been mostly sorting my clothes and ebaying. I have not set foot outside, and barely even managed to get dressed into any sort of acceptable attire. I have worn my slippers all day and haven't brushed my hair. It has been the most productive day I have had since going off work on holiday a week past on Thursday.

1.5.11

Happy May! Me and Mum went for a wee wander into Glasgow today and I bought myself a new perfume. It smells like lime sorbet and is actually amazing. I usually hate perfumes, they make me feel sick and give me sore heads but I have been wearing this all day and feel fine. YAY!
After I purchased it and bought myself lunch I discovered that I am utterly SKINT until pay day on the 19th. Uh oh.....
As a side note, Eileen and my sister in law Kirsty were talking about the L'Occitane in London the other day, and how awesome it was. I had never heard of it and they didn't know if there was one in Glasgow. Well there is, and its pretty nice :)
