31.3.11

Came home this afternoon to find a wee letter for a Mrs Stirling that came all the way from Australia.
Mrs Stirling doesn't live here, and I don't think she is actually even alive. I am sure the person who lived here before us was a Mr Stirling, and the house was sold to our landlord after he died.
Feel a wee bit bad because the person who sent it obviously isn't in regular contact with Mrs Stirling. We've been here 4 years and there's never been a letter from Oz before. They might think Mrs Stirling doesn't want to talk to them anymore. Maybe I'll write back to the senders address on the back of the envelope.

So that's March. Rounded off by a letter from a stranger.

30.3.11

Was round at my brother, Graemes for dinner this evening. His wonderful wife, Kirsty, cooked a lovely roast dinner.
This here is their dog, Huey. Named after Huey from the Fun Loving Criminals. He's getting to a bit of an old boy so he's allowed up on the sofa to snooze.
He's a lovely old pup.

29.3.11

Today has been a bit of an animal filled day. Firstly I had to go see Sarah's boyfriends gecko, Gizmo, as they are both off on holiday. He seemed all cheery and was out chasing the crickets I put in for him (how many can you spot?)
And also, I spotted the first lamb of the year! The sheep out the back have been getting chubbier and lying down alot so I knew it wouldn't be long until the first one made its appearance. Cant wait to see them all running about in wee gangs, kicking up their heels at the joys of Spring. :)

28.3.11

Went over to see Eileen today, as its her birthday. Dropped off her pressie, which I think was a hit.
I was also greeted by 2 ill children and one who had been having typical little boy fun with his big cousin.
I actually think Lewis had been literally rolling about in the mud. Apparently he and Connor had just been playing football.
The picture doesn't do his muddyness justice and moments after this picture was taken he was whipped off for a much needed bath.

Happy Birthday Eileen!!

27.3.11

Spring has sprung! Today is officially the first day of British Summer time.
It was a lovely sunny day all day, and the daffodils have finally started blooming in the garden. Lovely jubbley.

26.3.11

Today the school my nephews go to had their Spring Fair. Andrews class are learning French and he and his friend had been chosen to work in their French cafe. He was taking orders and serving drinks and cakes. However they did so well in encouraging people to come to the cafe that they were a bit over run....

Step in Lewis! Although he was there with me and Eileen just to enjoy the fair he quite happily stepped in to help run the cafe. I think the pair of them enjoyed themselves. Particularly as they were paid in a free ride on the bouncy castle and a free chocolate croissant. Tres proud of them both. Especially as no other kids had been chosen to work in any other stall.

25.3.11

Popped into Tesco for some dinner stuff on my way home, and as I headed back to the car the sunset was looking pretty lovely. The sun generally sets while I am driving home so I miss it at home. It can look quite stunning setting over the fields out the back.

24.3.11

One of the best types of cake is free cake. A guy in my team at work had his birthday today so, as is tradition, he got a card, beer and cake.
I am not a huge fan of chocolate cake, but I am not one to turn down a free piece of any flavour.
I better get my order in for July.....

23.3.11

This is the latest addition to my menagerie at work. She has been named Shaniquah and she is perched atop my computer screen.

22.3.11

Is there anything better than coming home from a hard days work to a home made fairy cake?

Yes there is. Coming home to a fairy cake made by my niece who, if she was here, would have told me I wasn't allowed it and then would have sent me to my bed.

She wasn't here so I got to have it, with custard. It was good :)

21.3.11

As 2011 is 'The Year of Change' for me, I decided to join the gym. Well technically I was rejoining. Me and Eileen used to go pretty regularly but, according to the gym computer, that was over 5 years ago! So I have looked out my lycra leotard and my sweatbands and I will be a gym goddess in no time!

20.3.11

Me and Eileen popped over to see Sarah for a wee while today. The fun thing about going to visit someone who isn't a boring grown up is getting to do fun things like toast marshmallows over candles in the living room.
Mmmmm marshmallow goo.......

19.3.11

Had to pop out and do a few messages today and on my way home I stopped by the canal.
I got a few odd looks from some men who were fishing when I jumped out of the car to take a picture of the swans. Don't know why they thought I was so strange. They were sat there fishing in full camo gear. The fishes cant see you, no need to camouflage yourself! All they needed was some grease face paint.....

18.3.11

Today was a haaaaard day in work. However the stress was eased when my holidays were confirmed for April. I have the 26th to the 28th off, however because of the way a couple of bank holidays fall (and thanks to the upcoming Royal wedding) I will have a whole 11 days off. WOOOOO HOOOOO!!!

17.3.11

Inspired by the current sunshine (its still freezing, mind) I decided to look out my sunglasses. I have a slight obsession with sunglasses.
I actually have specific pairs that are kept in specific cars (the top left ones are for my car, as they make me feel like a rapstar - though my car isnt a rappers car but I usually have my tunes cranked up. The bottom left are for my dads Range Rover. The green lenses and faux wooden legs give them an 'old man farmer' feel).
I'm pretty sure one pair is missing....unless they got broken and I forgot.

16.3.11

It was very very foggy this morning. I took this photo as Dad and I zoomed past the canal on our way to the train station. On a clear day you should be able to see the canal, the woods running alongside the path and the hills rolling up behind and generally just be able to see quite a distance. Not today.
I quite like fog though, except in the dark. Its like its hiding things like a cheeky little child.

15.3.11

It appears that I am starting a small menagerie on my desk in work. Meet Croc O'Doyle, my Irish crocodillian friend. And Miss Doe A. Deer, a cheery young lass who always looks like she is up to mischief.

14.3.11

Don't you just love finding forgotten chocolate right when you fancy something sweet? It's almost as good as finding a fiver in your jeans just as you're about to put them in the wash.

13.3.11

Thankfully the snowfall of yesterday didn't hang around too long. Well except up on the hills out the back, but that's not unusual.
The top of the hills were pretty foggy. Roll on summer time when the views are cracking!

12.3.11

Flipping snow! Again! British summer time starts in 2 weeks.... apparently.
The sheep have been put out in the fields to have their babies. It shouldn't be snowing anymore!
I think this little sheep was slightly bamboozled at where her yummy grass had gone.

11.3.11

I feel it would be selfish to post a picture of something mundane that has gone on in my life considering what has happened in Japan today. I will just say that the people affected by the events today are in my thoughts and I hope their lives can be rebuilt.

10.3.11

This is Eileen, full of chocolatey excitement, moments after I appeared at her house to deliver chocolate and some chat. Told you I was a wonderful sister :)

Wednesday, 9 March 2011

9.3.11

I would like to introduce my brothers 2 boys, Connor (right) and Ethan (left). I popped over to drop some DVDs off for Graeme (because I am a very nice sister) and the terrible twosome pictured were full of mischief.

7.3.11

Today has been a very good day. There were many things that made it so good. Firstly I was off work on a wee holiday, and there for got a lie in. Secondly I went to Eileens and hung out with her and her terrible trio, who were all on top form. Andrew, Lewis and I played some board games. Elise in particular was hilarious and even gave me my first ever kiss and cuddle from her when I left. She's usually very particular about who and when she gives kisses or cuddles too but, somehow, I got on her good side today :). Thirdly we had stovies for dinner, which were tres tasty. Finally, and possibly the most exciting thing of the day........I found French set yogurts in Asda!!

You may think 'So what!' but I LOVE French set yogurts. We were basically brought up on them and, in recent times, they have become very difficult to come by. I have been keeping an eye out for them for months and months and finally I have found them. I've already had 2 today, and I think I may go have another one!! Next on my food mission is MacIntosh red apples. Haven't seen them in a good couple of years!

6.3.11

Went to see a band called Terrorvision tonight. Awesome, awesome gig. I am going to have no voice tomorrow, and I am pretty sure all my muscles will hurt but it was brilliant fun.

Saturday, 5 March 2011

5.3.11

I'm not well. I am not impressed by this because not only is it the weekend, but I have plans for tomorrow and I have Monday off work.
I have spent almost the entire day today in my bed and filled myself up with medicine in order to force my body to heal itself. I am feeling a little better, but I am going to be awake all night due to the vast amount of sleep I have had today.

4.3.11

Ordered this book from Amazon a couple of days ago and it arrived today. After reading about the Stanford Experiment last weekend I fancied reading about some more weird and interesting experiments. Bought this book on the recommendation of a girl in work. Hopefully its an interesting one!

3.3.11

Look! Daylight (sort of)! It was still light enough when I got home tonight to see the definition of the trees in the garden against the sky. The weather was also pleasant enough throughout the day that I think I can put my big, cozy ski jacket away until next ear. Spring is on the way!!

2.3.11

Money, money, money! It must be funny, in a rich mans world!

I have a wee penny tub, and every day I clear out my purse of anything smaller than a 50p and put it in the tub. I decided to count up what I had and got £34. None too shabby, don't ya think? Especially since I am not saving up for anything in particular. I tend to use it for holiday spending money, or buying myself something I wouldn't normally. Perhaps I'll save up for a pony....

1.3.11

Happy March!!

Inspired by the current sunshine and the fact that the evenings are slowly getting lighter I thought I would look out my roller skates.

I have had them for about 3 years and never actually used them, but 2011 is a year for change!

I will have to get elbow and knee pads before I venture out on them because I full expect to fall alot and hard.
